Building Traditions: The Art and History of Ofrendas

A workshop on Ancestral Veneration and the history, importance, and hands-on practice for keeping an home Ofrenda. Folks in attendance will learn not just why we keep our altars and honor the ancestors, (personally and collectively,) but also the do’s and dont’s, how to “dress” candles, offerings discussion, and hands on creation to start tour own ofrenda or add to your current one.
Each person will go home with supplies (a candle, dressing herbs/curios) and Nicho boxframe that we will be personalizing in session. Participants will receive dimensions of the nicho box upon registration and are encouraged to bring a photo of a past relative/close friend or something that reminds you distinctly of them. As well as anything you knew they loved if any. Crafting, candles, and all other supplies shall be provided.
